    to be absolutely sure;

    TB kills about 2 million people each year – and is second only to HIV/AIDS as the biggest infectious killer of adults in the world.

    TB is today the single biggest infectious killer of women of reproductive age. It accounts for 9% of deaths worldwide among women aged between 15-44.

    One third of the world’s population is currently infected with the TB bacterium.

    About 8.8 million people become sick with active TB each year.

    Someone in the world is newly infected with TB every second.
