    HSP, I can understand the shorts on nickel plays or in fact any base metals at the moment, although continuing to go short at this point could be very risky in my view. I'd say the easy money has now gone, as depressed Ni prices will have to level out at some point.

    I am unsure whether you would get much sympathy from holders here though!

    Just on a general side note, and I don't know whether others agree, I wholeheartedly believe that physical shorting should be completely banned. If we think about what a share actually is, you are buying a chunk of a company to help it grow and support. You have faith in the company and don't want to see it destroyed. I think if someone wants to play a bet via a 'short' CFD which does not involve the actual movement of a share, then so be it, but the movement of a share by shorting is not what market investing was ever meant to be. I do not see how that can help any company in Australia grow.
