It was considered that the Lower Cattamarra Coal Measures were the best reservoir qualities which Bootine1 and Gin Gin1 targeted some 30 years ago. Typical depletion rates for tight sands (anything below the upper Cattamarra is considered tight). It has been mentioned that the Lower Sands still have merit and will be explored later (probably when fraccing becomes an option).
The two new well pay zones are in the Upper Sands considered conventional. One well is still in the same fault zone as Bootine 1. The 2nd well (Red Gully) is a deviated well into another fault zone (significantly faulted and sealing two pay zones). EGO never tested the 2nd zone (B Sands) for reasons I will not go into. The B Sands had some very significant gas peaks, total gas readings of 100-200 units and indicated 18% porosity. Testing will commence early May for approx 2 weeks.
Overcoming the lack of redundancy (bottlenecks caused by design) in the plant plus the addition of the B Sands, I believe, should see full production. Figures that have been published to date, indicate no gas depletion.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank your company for its intervention. Both you and I will be the benefactors.
