I thought of it that way too for a bit, but can't see them going to all that trouble to simply increase the public awareness of an asset that makes up only a very small part of their portfolio. AWE are over a $1b company by market cap with a monthly turnover of approx $160m. If anything, I think their philosophy is to get it cheap, early, before anybody knows its true value, therefore trying to keep a lid on the publicity of the texas project. That's why I'm so impressed with ADI's response, which IMO will blow the offer out of the water. The true value of ADI's interest in this acreages is about to become very public information.
