Thanks mods for intervening. Personally, I don't venture into the stock threads too much because of the above, preferring the quality of the STT where only proper argment is tolerated.
The MTC thread is the fist where I've used the ignore function, which as a last resort option, makes one wonder if one should even try, after all, having to ignore someone would seem to defeat the purpose of a discussion.
Unfortunately, public forums make it too easy for fools, albiet, even clever ones, a platform to speak ungraciously. If only they knew that they would improve the effect of their argument if they honoured the virtues of debate.
Instead though, they ignore such important nuances, and replace them with sophistry, like, 'what, you don't like a different opinion?' And, 'public forums are for expressing everyone's opinion, even if you disgaree with it.'
What they ignore when making such statements is, it is not what hey have said that is the problem, it is the way they have said it.
