The Industrial Revolution began 1760. The population then was 777,000,000. The population today is precisely 10 times that amount. So, with 10 times the population, relying on an increasingly exponential amount of coal, you're suggesting it's only the past few decades that CO2 has decided to make a difference?
Well yes. Because the system could cope with and absorb a certain amount. The oceans for instance have been sucking up loads of CO2 (and now getting more acidic in doing so). These are finite pools though (no pun intended) and with deforestation progressing at the same time our system ability to cope is now seriously hampered.
