just came across an old report The oaklands coal/Power project dec 1989 CRA Misubishibi The project next to Coalworks oaklands project what readers of hotcopper might want to know Groundwater in the oaklands Area it says "Present groundwater levels 35-60m below ground level in most of the region. the quality of ground level in the area varies from relatively fresh to highly saline - with levels of salinty generally increasing from river along the prevaling flow lines to the north west. the groundwater to the north east of the oaklands area is highly saline and appears to be partially confined to that area. the quality of the natural groundwater in the mining area and adjacent area is classed as brackish" it basically say extensive water samples/testing have been taken from this area so coalworks should have most of this info also says "aquifer beds can be up to 300 metres in thickness"
mine dewatering will be required for mining. will talk more later on this subject
