There are tens of thousands more guns in Australia since the buyback. Many of the buyback guns hadn't been fired in years and many were broken. They have been replaced by newer more efficient models.
Despite the huge increase in firearms we haven't had a mass shooting. People say it's not the number of guns, it's the ease of access. Maybe, but if you have the money and some time to spare, you can buy whatever you want and as much ammunition as you need.
