Less amount of time for me to get it out of the safe than it will take you to make him a cup of tea & call the cops =)
Hopefully just the presentation of a firearm would be enough to dissuade the assailant so no shots would need to be fired.
Yes their laws are pretty lacking around firearms & need change but they do have an inalienable right to possess firearms free from interference by legislators. Before you jump to the usual 'The second amendment is crap' argument remember that here in Australia you actually have no enshrined rights protected from government interference. Its for this reason why Australians don't understand why Americans vehemently defend their bill of rights - we simply don't have any apart from the right to vote. I'm not suggesting we have a second amendment in Australia as its not something i agree with but i think we should have a constitutionally enshrined bill of rights protecting basic human rights.
"Great ban the bolt actions as well. It seems liek their is a cycle where we relax laws then a massacre happens then we tighten them back up"
Can you give us an example of when this has happened?
"Bourke St killer while horrific killed 6 people and cars are an essential part of society - guns for 95% of the population are not."
Allot more than 6 people died from cars that year in Australia.
