Farmers need a couple of weapons of different calibre and types and I have no problem with farmers owning guns at all as it is a necessary part of owning a property for various reasons. I know a few farmers and worked on properties when I was young. There is also a need for professional shooters as well who shoot on properties to cull pest animals. There is also a need for target shooters owning guns as well but not auto or semi auto style weapons.
What needs to be banned is semi and full auto weapons and larger capacity magazines. Id even go as far as to say ban pump action and lever action weapons as well. Ban the sale of all military style weapons and body armour as well. The penalties for owning these weapons needs to be harsher and enforced more strictly.
