The Saracens never lived in harmony in Spain. It was a continuous war for 14 centuries. The Muslims killed and took slaves throughout their reign.
The eldest son of every christian family was ripped from his family and forced into military service, was indoctrinated, radicalised and became a Muslim soldier and used as frontline battle fodder to save the true believers. Beautiful young christian girls were sold into harems. Which is why many later Muslim rulers had blue eyes and blonde hair.
There was never any peace. It was 14 centuries of war. It was where the first Crusades were fought and won.
The Spanish Inquisition was a direct result of Muslim rule. When the Spaniards reclaimed their land the Inquisition started as an effort to rid the Isthmus of Muslim influence.
As I have written before. When the Muslims were being pressed hard by the Spaniards they called in the wild African tribes to fight for them. (Doesn't it remind you of the European invasion of African Muslims today???) They raped and looted their way through Spain and beyond until they were stopped by a united Christian force.
