infrastructure feature in NSW Budget
Budget boosts infrastructure
The state's infrastructure is one of the biggest winners in the budget, with a record $50 billion to be spent over four years.
Of that, $12.5 billion will be spent over the next 12 months.
The biggest slice of that pie is going towards upgrading electricity infrastructure, to improve reliability when demand is at its highest.
Half a billion dollars will be spent on projects designed to reduce reliance on coal-generated electricity.
More than $2 billion is to be spent on water, with most of that money going towards the construction of a desalination plant in Sydney.
Roads and Transport will receive $1.9 billion each, for projects like upgrading highways, bridges and finishing rail projects.
The health and education sectors have also received a boost of about $600 million each for upgrades and new buildings.
NSW Budget to deliver major infrastructure boost
The New South Wales Government will deliver a $50 billion infrastructure Budget today, in an attempt to build a new era of prosperity.
The Government says it will be the biggest spending infrastructure Budget in Australia's history.
