Interesting that Horsehead in the US also made a 8.5 million dollar loss. It's a 150 year old zinc producer from waste metals in New Jersey.
"Zinc producer Horsehead Holding Friday posted a first-quarter net loss of $8.5 million, down from net income of $14.8 million in the year-ago period on lower zinc prices and a 22% increase in coking coal prices."
The had the benefit of a low USD too, and also entered chapter 11 in 2002 before re-listing a year later.
