Firstly as an employer I dont have awards that would force me to behave as you say. why would I become familiar with each industry is beyond me. I have enough of a struggle trying to get the awards right in my business. I am not an HR person.

In my industry very often for reasons of security if the person is senior the notice period is waived or the employee wants to shorten the period.

You state: "No wonder employers in this country dont have a god name joe, these are things you should be all over for the benefit of you and your employees."

My first obligation is to make sure my business is profitable so that I can pay the people I owe money to. That is by servicing customers needs , then come creditors and staff and last if anything is left I get it. when I started I didnt get paid for 3 months because there was no money to pay me. How do I benefit by paying in advance for two weeks - If that was my industry my products would come in from overseas. Oh that's happening isn't it. So maybe the Unions should have a closer look at it - I have to fund my business and the stock and the customers - now you want me to prepay the staff two weeks. Forget it I would have gone overseas- If you want to whinge then thats your right but reality is that is everyone's choice.

Really labour is free to go and work anywhere and I am free to run my business for its stakeholders benefit which includes staff but I would not open a business within an industry that had such an award. Nor is it my obligation to run my business for the benefit of my staff.

So you are stating that this company is in fact acting outside of the law and committing an unfair labour practice - I say dream on. If you think that that would not have been jumped on ages ago and stopped and even published by now I cannot believe that. You only have to make one phone call and 5 days later the company would be having to answer questions and lawsuits etc.

So I challenge you call the authorities and unions and let them investigate , but until I get evidence I wont believe it.

Now to a possibility if the company can choose to pay fortnightly instead of monthly and avoid the prepayment then I would say well done I think that is a better practice.
