    Y,

I have been a fan of Thorium for years. Its why I liked ARU for so long and got dragged into the LYC discussion earlier. Although LYC has no Thorium reserves ARU does as well as comparative RE reserves to that of LYC.

Thorium, currently, has little military use other than for power of mass vehicles (ships, subs and space) due to the required high temperature needed. If someone manages to merge ramjet / scramjet technology with Thorium as a fuel source then we would truly enter a new age of power generation and speed.

India, China are prolific followers and developers of Thorium based power generation to help drive industry and provide for their communities.

Australia has one of the largest known reserves but doesn't use it or do any R&D in regards its use. We will get left behind on this one as well. It is bad enough that we are missing the current boat with using LNG for our own purposes as a convertible source for petroleum products to reduce imports. Combine these two resources and Australia could have had enough power for both static and mobile power generation to ensure we were cost effective in developing other industries. But alas, we export the base products and import the finished products and will pay dearly for it for many many decades to come.

...by that time my Briggs and Stratton lawn mower will probably still be working.
