If I was part of a large consortium trying to lock in valuable gas for LNG trains what would I do?

    I would,

Buy quality gas fields whenever favourable circumstances permitted (or that I could manufacture - Deutsche...)

Pick the best asset for the cheapest price, buying years in advance if I had the financial backing - to realize larger profits when in production.

By buying so early with little prior indication may have caught potential rivals off guard to lever greater chance of success.

I'm guessing that Arrow and co. know the geology very well and with the above considered have decided to move early.

If you really feel that Arrow and Shell are clutching at straws by bidding on "marginal" blocks then please sell.

I think to imply that these blocks are marginal and have "no promise" can be argued any way you like but the actions and timing of this bid tell me the results lay not too far away in terms of gas flow and reserves upgrades. At least it looks like that is what Arrow and co. think.

Hopefully this is what management think too and aren't going to let the possible potential be bought for peanuts - I'd prefer at least popcorn.

Position is Buy as this bid may be sweetened or trumped, but hopefully extinguished for now to play again another day.

    Vx.
