might be a genuine non trick question - but, it isn't simple.

I am in reality not at all one sided on everything - not left, not right - it all depends on the issue.

Some things and some events I would appear and probably be very right sided on - left on others.

I also judge others and issues accordingly - hence, I am pro nuclear, nuclear waste storage, pro mining (done well),but, anti a lot of stuff in forestry and agriculture. I am all for throwing out people who are immigrants who come here and break the laws - but, I will give them a chance to learn. I am also very forgiving of people who are refugees who have been displaced by war or trauma - I understand that these traumas badly effect people and makes them quite dysfunctional for long periods.

I often have very differing views 'inside' a particular issue -- a good example would be negative gearing - on one hand I strongly believe that interest paid on loans for investments should most definitely be tax deductible - but, on the other hand I am totally 'against' negative gearing -which I see as just an abuse of the taxation system using loss making investments to lower personal income - I do NOT think that should be allowed --- positive geared investments only - the only exceptions are if there is some major crash which drops the asset value below it's purchase price (and rent) - something like that.

On party policy and what parties stand for - I just don't believe that either a LaboUr based party, nor any conservative party fits the time now.

'LaboUr' based, being exactly what it says and 'conservative' meaning, hands off, probably small government, let the business world work itself out --

I don't believe any of that fits in political parties and current life as we roar ahead technologically and into a less and less human labour intensive future.

As to what someone is who stands next to me -- it just depends completely on the issue. I have many friends who I am on the same page with on many issues - but, I often stand alone on the treatment of prisoners -- even in the light of strong evidence - my friends see the logic, but, cannot seem to get over their strongly built in beliefs.

Of all of the pollies you mentioned - the only 2 that I have some thoughts about are BS and SM
(I don't know enough about DeNatalie)

BS - I wait to see what he does - I have seen some interactions that I believe show he has a good human side - I refuse to judge what he will be like until he becomes PM - it's a huge difference to being opposition leader.

SM to me is one of those people who I saw as being an immensely valuable human being ------- completely stuffed up by having a dud boss (TA) and then, being promoted away from what he is really really good at -- actually doing things.

I believe SM is quite a rare bird and now totally wasted ---------- if I wanted someone to do something - and, it could possibly be done - he is the man I would pick to do it.

To me, he's been almost totally wasted by bloody stupid policies and either impossible jobs or jobs for the purpose of political gain only -

So - out of your list ----- BS, SM - above comments, - DN - no comment - the rest --

you can put in the Lake next to Parliament and tell em to go paddle, I couldn't care if they are left right or confused - all hopeless IMO

To me -- in the end - it matters not so much whether someone is left or right, it also matters not what sort of political system one has -

it only matters how good in heart and how skilled are the individuals --

therein lies the problem in Aussie politics (and a lot of the world as well)
