From John Podesta's leaked emails, the first reference to Trump and Russia was in December 2015 when Podesta said to his team that the best way to deal with Trump was to insinuate a "bromance" with Vladimir Putin (yes, he literally said "bromance") in reference to Trump' statements on the campaign trail that he would try to restore relations with Russia.
When that didn't work and Trump won the election, the story suddenly changed to the Kremlin remotely hacked the voting machines. Only problem with this story is that the voting machines aren't connected to a network. It would be like saying "I wanted golden brown toast but it came out charcoal black, Russia hacked my toaster!"
When that didn't work, the media tried to use the fact that General Flynn was fired as the National Security Advisor for neglecting to say that he had spoken to the Russian ambassador to the US in the period between the election and the inauguration of President Trump. It didn't matter that it was literally his job to make these sort of connections as a member of the incumbent Administration, the media reported that this was evidence that Russia had hacked the election.
When that didn't work, the Mueller investigation indicted Paul Manafort for actions relating to consulting work done for Viktor Yanukovych's Administration in Ukraine long before Donald Trump's campaign ever started. The media and the conspiracy theorists in their tin foil hats claimed this was proof that Russia hacked the election.
When that didn't work, the narrative once again changed to advertisements on Facebook. The media (who have failed massively to keep up with technology and have lost massive market shares to online and independent news sources who have largely grown through Facebook, they are somewhat responsible for increasing the mainstream media's competition) began to say that Facebook was responsible for allowing Russia to hack the election and attacking the way Facebook generates their revenue (advertising).
It's so satisfying to see all of these lefties crying over this nonsense. To be fair, at some point in our lives we all believe in absolutely ridiculous things that completely defy logic to believe in. I remember when I was 8, I was shattered to find out Santa didn't exist.

Good summary.
The media and their unquestioning parrots have been predicting doom and gloom ever since the escalator and they have been wrong every time.
Mueller is a bust so they will move onto something else, matters not, the US public are now wise to the spin and President Trump looks a shoe-in for 2020 against a field of utterly unimpressive Dem candidates.
Fool them once, fool them a thousand times, they will continue to queue up to be fooled.
Meanwhile, the winning continues.
“House Democrats on Tuesday failed to override President Trump’s first veto as part of their battle over border security , representing a victory for the administration that allows the president's declaration of a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border to stand.”
