NGM PREPARING TO DRILL IN NIGER
NGM is pleased to advise that contracts for drilling and down-hole logging have been finalised for its first drilling program on the Company’s Tim Mersoï Basin uranium assets in Niger. Relevant permits have also been secured. Drilling is anticipated to commence in the first week of July 2009 and will be undertaken on all three concessions. Local major drilling company, Esafor, has been contracted to drill a minimum 1,500m of rotary mud RC holes. Esafor is Niger’s major drilling contractor and has worked on all major uranium projects in the Tim Mersoï basin for many years, including all drilling for Areva on the recent Imouraren development. Uranium Logging and Consulting (ULC) has been retained to conduct all down hole radiometric and resistivity logging, and all geological services for the execution of the drilling programme. ULC is based in Niamey, the capital of Niger, and has principals with significant experience in uranium exploration and geology, in particular in Niger and the Tim Mersoï Basin. Rock chips and cuttings will be retained and sent for further laboratory analysis. Recent field work has located and mapped a number of high grade outcropping zones of uranium mineralisation over several kilometres in length. Many of these surface zones of uranium mineralisation are interpreted to be continuous with the uranium mineralisation intersected down-dip by the previous (1970’s) historical scout drilling. Three of these zones are to be drilled in this program to test their length, width and depth. All initial sites selected for drilling have access from nearby road infrastructure and are serviced by the nearby provincial capital of Agadez.
