Be aware that the use of medical cannabis in Canada is only legal if a prescription is issued to a patient by an approved health professional. Canadian medical practitioners can only write prescriptions for dried cannabis, and under the Medical Code of Ethics as adhered to in Quebec (so far I have yet to explore the ethical guidelines in the anglophone provinces, but I expect that they will be much the same) medical practitioners can only prescribe dried cannabis to patients who are enrolled in an approved research project. After that the patient hands over the prescription to one of the approved suppliers in order to obtain the dried cannabis for personal use. Btw: production and supply of all other types of products containing medical cannabis appears to be prohibited under the MMPR guidelines. Furthermore, the Canadian Government does not endorse the use of medical cannabis; the judiciary seems to have forced their hand.
So the Uruguayan adventure may not be so far fetched after all.
