Hmm .. "settlement" versus "registration" - interesting question interfc. I would have thought (a) too, with the record date requiring the shares to be registered in your name. Your broker (or someone on hc more knowledgeable than me) should be able to answer less equivocally though. Fortunately, my own long held GIRs posed no such problem and the in specie CAP have popped up in my portfolio OK. Good luck - sis
