The guys who made the short positions have had a great year to say the least but to lock their profit in they need to close their position by buying back the stock....to me the high numbers of shares short sold is an indicator of future buy side demandalso given this is a tightly held stock....it gaps up high on small volumes....look at today.....up 3.7% on just 1.5m shares trading.....
