Virgin Australia Holdings Limited (ASX:VAH) increased its domestic passenger numbers by 3.2 per cent in October.
Australia’s second largest carrier saw a 2.7 per cent lift in international passenger numbers, with the division impacted by the cancellation of flights into and out of Denpasar Airport due to the APEC Summit in early October.
Virgin’s Tiger Air division posted a 15.1 per cent lift in available seat kilometres for the month, driven by further improvements in aircraft utilisation.
Last week Virgin confirmed the successful completion of the initial issue for new fully paid ordinary shares forming part of its earlier announced $350 million capital raising.
The airline also announced the addition of a further five destinations to its codeshare network across Indonesia in November.
Virgin Australia announced a net loss of $98.1 million in the 2013 financial year.
