What I don't get is what Singapore Airlines would have thought about this - my understanding is they did not want more Chinese control over that corridor that flys straight over their heads? They never had the votes to stop it but I'm sure they're not happy about it - maybe they still buy-out the AIZ stake to take greater control of the board?
What a share registry now - ok they got some more cash (but they need a whole lot more) but they've just made that board unworkable unless that was the plan - divide and conquer - I wouldn't be surprised if Singapore Airlines now launch an all out takeover to stop this happening.
The other thing I'm not sure about is do they need to put this to a vote with shareholders - 13% is not a small stake I would have thought this would need to be passed by shareholders?
