Leighton Holdings Limited’s (ASX:LEI) wholly owned subsidiary Thiess Pty Ltd has secured a $154 million contract from Transport for NSW to build transport facilities in Sydney’s CBD.
The project will involve building a pedestrian link between Wynyard Station and the multi-billion dollar waterfront development at Barangaroo, at the western side of the CBD.
Thiess says a 110-metre pedestrian tunnel will be built 3.5 metres high and nine metres wide.
The project will involve tunnelling under existing buildings and around existing utility services.
Leighton Holdings reported a net profit of $106 million in the first half of its 2012 financial year.
