Ten Network Holdings Ltd (ASX:TEN) and Seven West Media have intensified talks concerning buying Australian Football League rights according to the Australian Financial Review.
Executives refused to comment, but sources reported by the paper claim Seven floated the idea of Ten paying $220 million over five years for two weekly games.
Seven has also approached Nine Entertainment Co about buying some of its AFL rights but sources say the talks aren’t substantial.
In the six months to February 28, 2011 Ten reported a net profit of $49 million.
