Tabcorp Holdings Limited (ASX:TAH) has lost its case in the Victorian Supreme Court involving a claim of $686 million.The gaming company claimed the state government was obliged to pay damages after its gaming licence expired and the issuing of new licences saw it lose its gambling duopoly it shared with Tatts Group Limited (ASX:TTS).The company’s claim hinged on a statutory provision from 1994 but the court ruled that legislative changes in 2009 repealed the provision.Tabcorp reported a net profit $74.6 million in the first half of the 2014 financial year.
