Suncorp Group Limited (ASX:SUN)says it has received about 400 claims from bushfire victims, estimated to cost between $60 and $70 million.
The group carries a natural hazard events allowance of $565 million.
Suncorp Group CEO Patrick Snowball says assessors have been deployed to affected regions.
Suncorp Bank also announced impairment losses of $18 million for the quarter, which it says was in line with the medium-term expectation.
Bank CEO David Foster said lending growth continued due to strong branch distribution in growth regions.
Suncorp generated a net profit of $496 million in fiscal 2013.
