Sirius Resources (ASX:SIR) is progressing the development and construction of the Nova nickel mine in the Fraser Range, Western Australia.
Mining of the boxcut and expansion of the construction camp are progressing ahead of schedule while roads and infrastructure corridors are being established on schedule.
Construction of permanent accommodation village has commenced while clearing of the aerodrome is underway.
The company expects to start construction of the tailings storage facility in early March.
Sirius is also carrying out final evaluation of the remaining contracts:
- Power station (build own operate);
- Ore processing plant (EPC lump sum);
- Concrete batch plant (rates);
- 11KV Power distribution system (lump sum);
- Non-processing infrastructure (lump sum); and
- Process plant bulk earth works (lump sum).
Nova has an Ore Reserve of 13.1 million tonnes at 2.1% nickel and 0.9% copper.
It has forecast all-in sustaining cash cost of US$2.09 per pound, positioning it as the 12th lowest cost producer in the world.
