As far as I know , each state has a regulation on the number of Pharmacies that a Pharmacist can have a pecuniary interest. This varies from state to state. The pecuniary interest is any percentage ownership. This regulation has become muddied with trusts , company structures and the like and the state bodies seem to think it is too hard to administer. Make it very hard for young Pharmacists to own a Pharmacy unless they are willing to become a very junior partner.
