The clearest explanation of the issue: Mumbrella understands a number of operators were contacted with a request to provide information to help form a view as to whether advertising packages which heavily discount or provide particular geographical regions for free are in breach of the Competition and Consumer Act.
I've no idea if this is something we do, but suspect it is more an issue in Sydney with all the stuff about the Sydney Council contract (which JC Decaux and OML were supposed to compete for). QMS do dominate the gold coast - but in terms of geography, we're not in street furniture and our signs are kinda scattered, so don't see how we could be in trouble (other than in the GC). Plus QMS is pretty heavily NZ weighted, and there are those other income streams...
If this is intended to open markets up, then given QMS has the smallest market share, perhaps this would help? I'm not willing to bet $$s on my theory yet - but it seems the current sell off across the whole industry has incorrectly included QMS.
