After talking to a friend who has contacts at the ORI Kooragang Site in Newcastle, my understanding is Ori has lost numerous contracts to supply Ammonium Nitrate to the mines.This is mainly due to the cheap imported Ammoniun Nitrate from China. Manufacturing in Australia is expensive and ORI is finding it very hard to compete.
I also believe that ORI will find it self in the Federal Court for alleged breach of EBA with it workers. Then you have CEO Ian Smith dismissed for alleged bullying (AFR today) all bad P.R in my books.
