WELLINGTON, July 29 (Reuters) - The number of new dwelling consents approved in New Zealand rose a seasonally adjusted 16.3 percent in June, official data showed on Friday.
Excluding apartments, flats, and retirement village units, the number of consents for new houses rose 4.9 percent.
Residential building consents, including all dwellings, were up 34.8 percent in June compared with the same month a year ago, Statistics New Zealand said.
A total of 2,752 new homes were consented in June 2016, including 1,863 new standalone houses, with the balance spread between apartments, retirement units, flats and townhouses.
