WELLINGTON, March 3 (Reuters) - Prices for New Zealand's main commodities rose slightly in February after three consecutive monthly falls, ANZ Bank's commodity price index showed Thursday.

The index rose 0.4 percent for the month, compared with a 2.3 percent fall in the previous month.

On an annual basis the index was down 17.8 percent, slightly less than a 14.7 percent decline the prior month.

"The good news in February was a 2.3% month-on-month rise in non-dairy prices. This was the first rise in 10 months, perhaps suggesting a base could be near," said ANZ Agri Economist Con Williams. Price improvements were largely in beef and aluminium.

In New Zealand dollar terms the index was unchanged compared to January and was down 10.4 percent on the year.
