The best performing sector was materials adding 1.7 per cent to close at 9,531. The worst performing sector was healthcare, losing 0.4 per cent to close at 18,261 points.The best performing stock in the S&P/ASX 200 was CSR Limited (ASX:CSR), rising 7.73 per cent to close at $4.04.
