Airport investor MAp Group (ASX:MAP) says Sydney Airport has recorded its strongest August for international, domestic and total traffic, with an average of 95,000 passengers per day. The figure represents 7.6 per cent growth.
Total international traffic increased 6.3 per cent in August, with an boost in passenger numbers from China, Japan and Korea driving the growth.
Domestic passengers increased by 8.2 per cent, compared with the same time last year.
MAp's Copenhagen Airport reported double digit traffic growth in August, 2.1 million passengers travelled through the airport representing a 12.9 per cent gain, while Brussels Airport posted a 2.4 per cent rise.
CEO Kerrie Mather says the group's airports continue to deliver strong performance with strength in passenger numbers across all traffic categories at each airport.
In July Ms Mather said Sydney Airport is reaping the rewards of a $1.7 billion investment since 2002 to support growth and meet passenger needs.
MAp Group posted a loss of $5.83 million for the six months to 30 June 2010.
