Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) subsidiary Leighton Contractors has reached an agreement with Main Roads Western Australia on the price, scope and construction method for the $1 billion Gateway WA Perth airport and freight access project.
The company says the contract with WA Main Roads has a cost target of $899 million, of which Leighton has a 68 per cent share.
Chief executive officer Hamish Tyrwhitt says the award of more than $600 million highlights the group's presence in the civil infrastructure market.
The project is scheduled for completion in early 2017, ahead of the planned expansion and consolidation of the Perth airport terminals.
Leighton generated a net profit of $442 million in its 2012 financial year.
