Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) wholly owned subsidiary John Holland has been selected as part of a consortium to build a prison in Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
The $232 million project includes the design, construction and maintenance of the Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison replacement.
The new prison will include 350 beds, cater for both genders across all security ratings and will be designed to engage Aboriginal prisoners in culturally appropriate programs and courses.
Designing the project will start early 2013 and construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2015.
Leighton Holdings reported a net profit of $106 million in the first half of the 2012 financial year.
