Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) wholly owned subsidiary Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd has signed a project alliance agreement with Main Roads Western Australia for the Gateway WA project.
The development which is valued at more than $1 billion includes updating roads around Perth Airport, adding extra lanes on the Tonkin Highway and updating the Leach Highway.
The project is jointly funded by the state and federal governments and expected to be completed by 2017.
Leighton Holdings recorded a net profit of $106 million in the first half of the 2012 financial year.
