Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) has announced that its 45 per cent owned Habtoor Leighton Group has scored a $US300 million road contract in Oman.
The contract has been awarded from Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications for the expansion of a highway and construction of roads in the Middle Eastern country.
The work will be undertaken as part of a joint venture with a Turkish company and is due to start immediately and finish within three years.
Habtoor Leighton Group’s CEO and Managing Director, Laurie Voyer, says the contract is a significant win in one of the company’s growth markets as it looks to expand across the Middle East.
In the 2011 financial year Leighton Holdings swung from a full year profit to a loss of $406 million.
