Shares in Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) started the week higher after the developer said two of its wholly owned subsidiaries have scored $510 million worth of contracts.
Thiess has secured a $140 million contract from electricity distributor, Ausgrid, to deliver infrastructure for Sydney’s electricity requirements. The project is scheduled to be finished in 2015.
John Holland has secured a $370 million contract with Bechtel Australia Pty Ltd to design and construct an accommodation village for Chevron’s Wheatstone gas project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Work on the village will start straight away and is due to be completed by the second quarter of 2014.
In the 2011 financial year Leighton Holdings booked a net loss of $406 million.
