Leighton Holdings Limited’s (ASX:LEI) 45 per cent owned Middle Eastern division Habtoor Leighton Group has been awarded a $US74 million healthcare contract in Saudi Arabia.
The contract will see the delivery of the Gulf region’s first Proton Therapy Centre, to be delivered as part of a 50/50 joint venture with Saudi company Al Latifia Trading and Contracting.
The centre is expected to provide Saudi Arabia and neighbouring Gulf States with access to the best cancer treatment technology in the world.
Habtoor Leighton Group was awarded a $US316 million healthcare contract in Saudi Arabia in September, and the company says the latest contract further strengthens its healthcare credentials and expansion into a growing Saudi Arabian market.
Leighton Holdings generated a net profit of $106 million in the first half of the 2012 financial year.
