Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world.  It can ill-afford disruption to a key industry.

Nonetheless, the government and ILU stances look a little hard-line to me - that is, with nil knowledge of the situation on the ground.

Can ILU contribute more to help alleviate the poverty and endemic corruption?  I don't mean financial sacrifice, perhaps with economic advice, urging of sound public policy, local infrastructure and so on.  I imagine a health clinic would simply be overwhelmed by demand.

I am no bleeding heart.  It is really hard to shift profound poverty, malnutrition and illiteracy. The child dependency ratio is astonishing.
