Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) has completed a 2,400 metre drill program at the Las Opeñas gold-copper epithermal project in Argentina.
The program targeted the main known zone of extensive surface gold and base metal mineralisation, coincident with a large breccia system and Induced Polarisation features.
Drilling intersected long, continuous intervals of the target breccia and dacite units that are known to host gold, silver and base metal mineralisation at Las Opeñas.
The Company anticipates the geological logging and sampling of drill cores should be completed in the next few days with all analytical results expected by mid-August.
Although the results are still pending, logging of the core strengthens GMD's belief that the Project has the potential to be a substantial gold deposit.
Earlier this year, Teck Resources (NYSE:TCK) offered Genesis the opportunity to explore a number of early stage gold projects held by Teck Argentina, where Genesis will have an option to earn up to a 100% interest.
Exploration of the Alliance Projects in the coming months will focus on mapping, geochemical sampling and geophysical surveying, including at the Espota Project which hosts an untested, strike extensive vein system.
