it all about valuation, stock trades on high expectation tend to get short due to downside risk
shorter is opposite of longer, long you believe the business is cheap so you buy for share price rally due to
increase earning, short take the opposite view that the business has peaked and can't grow much further and there for it can only go down from here etc...
