MACA in line for $306m work on Emerald Resources’ Cambodian Okvau gold project

MACA is positioned for a $US220 million ($306 million) mining contract if Emerald Resources goes ahead with a Cambodian gold project.

The contractor today said it had struck a deal with West Perth-based Emerald to supply equipment and mining services at the Okvau project over seven years with an option to extend.

The two companies have agreed on all material terms, conditions, schedules and rates within a draft contract subject to a final investment decision.

They have worked together on mining projects over the past 20 years.

MACA managing director Chris Tuckwell described the Okvau development as highly robust.

He added that the contractor would make use of its experience starting new mines overseas gained in Brazil over the past four years for two Perth-based clients.

MACA shares were down 0.3¢ to 98.2¢ at 12.34pm, while Emerald was down 0.1¢ to 3.7¢.
