It's pretty easy to understand, if they win the court case then it gives the DomaCom trust precedent that it is a widely held trust. As a widely held trust ALL smsf's will then have the ability to purchase property and then live in it as there is suffient distance to pass the arms length test. If you think achieving this result is a waste of shareholder funds you must be very confused about how the legal system works.
