Australian fertiliser company salvages Queensland plant with Territory gas deal.

• "Gas will be received on APA's Amadeus Gas Pipeline at Mereenie, then transported via the Northern Gas Pipeline to enter APA's East Coast Grid at Mount Isa. From there, it will travel via the Carpentaria Gas Pipeline, the South West Queensland Pipeline and the Roma Brisbane Pipeline to finally reach IPL's plant near Brisbane, Queensland."

• CTP managing director Richard Cottee said the company will supply 32 (TJ/Day) of Central Australian gas per day to the Gibson Island project.

• Mr Cottee said the new deal means Central Petroleum will reopen its mothballed plant at Palm Valley in Central Australia. "We've always maintained that Palm Valley was closed down not for lack of gas, but for lack of markets, and the advent of the Northern Gas Pipeline has meant that we have markets for the east coast of Australia."

• Meanwhile, Jemena is confident the pipeline, which is still in construction, will be ready to pipe gas by December for the deal.
