Coca-Cola Amatil Limited (ASX:CCL) boss Terry Davis says returning to the Australian beer market was a no-brainer given there is a billion-dollar profit pool currently dominated by just two major players.
Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) was restricted from selling beer in Australia for two years after SAB Miller bought Fosters.
Mr Davis says the structure of Australia's market is ready for a third player to challenge the foreign-owned duopoly of Lion - which owns Tooheys, and Fosters - which owns Carlton United.
He says Australia is largely an untapped market, twith only six markets in the world that have more than a billion-dollar profit.
Coca-Cola Amatil generated a net profit of $216 million in fiscal 2013
