@croasian Oil and in particular gas is a very interesting piece of the puzzle. Unconventional gas (CSG & shale) have made a huge fracking difference to the energy mix and in the medium term (5 to 10 years) I expect to see large shifts away from coal, at least in developed nations. Gas is very important when it comes to a stop gap fuel to abate carbon emissions. As more generation shifts to renewables you tend to get grid instability, Gas plants can quickly be activated to balance loads. Thankfully you Australians( or in your case Kiwi) have ample gas reserves and are well placed to do very well out of powering Asia. I ignore the oil price as there is a whole heap of geo-politicking going, on with the yanks trying to send the Russians and the Saudi's to the cleaners. From an engineering perspective gas is a much better fuel and produces more power per unit. And actually that's how I got to know CDD. Cardno actually has a very strong hydro-geology team and are well placed to do quite well out of expansion of shale and CSG industry. Just need to get the anti vax, anti fluoride, lock the gate, I love blackout groups to learn some sense. You see I'm a fracking guy and can tell you all that rubbish you read is actually total bollocks. Now for speculation you might notice that the Hinkly reactor in the UK is finally moving ahead and if you look at the science and take the emotion out of it, there is no better location on earth to have Nuclear fuel than Australia. Now that is something to consider as a bit of long range speculation.
